Any ideas? If the machine is using a four-head or even the rarer three-head config. then one of the heads is broken, worn, or clogged with oxide. If the sound is okay on SP then this is the likely cause. Please note I say 'likely'. Without the machine in front of me to test, I can't say for certain.
