Okay, here is what you need, (i've done it, and I know others who have as well) the 3+MAIL application library and documentation. lots and lots of time. MSC 5.0 or better even more time. a dedicated pc to use as a mail server. Once you have screamed at 3com long enough and have "obtained" the afformentioned software, you will need to spend eons of time expermenting with the library routines since they don't work like they are documented. What you then need to write is something that will connect to a "unix" box via the port on the pc and dig up/parse the mail on that side and feed it to the 3com apps stuff. Next you will need to call the little function that gets mail for you from the 3mail server. Scan thru your mail directory move the files over to unix, parse up the files and pass them off to the unix mailer. Sorry I can't be more specific, its quite an involved project, if you have a not-so general question about the gateway send mail to the addresses below and I will try to answer it. Also, don't even consider attempting this with out a good working knowledge of C, Unix mailers, and MooseDos. Even with the above, the project is guaranteed to cause massive headaches. ;-) There are myrads of little gotchas that 3com has, like messages can't be bigger than ~ 32k, etc. Discovering all of them is great fun. (groan) Sorry, I can't provide source, cuz I left it with the company I used to work for. I checked before I wrote this and they used the hard drive that the source was on for yet another network disk to store more games on. -- Doug Davis Lawnet 1030 Pleasent Valley Lane Arlington Texas 76015 817-467-3740 { sys1.tandy.com, motown!sys1, uiucuxc!sys1, killer!texbell } letni!doug "Very soon the only people who have guns will be criminals, At that point, those righteous people who have inacted all the gun control laws will wonder, "Why do the criminals still have guns?" panic: skcus letni
