Perhaps it's time to start disassembling >some EPROMS. Now, where'd I put that 680x0 disassembler... Naw, some of us have some info :-) Valid S120 values that I know of: 0 - Normal mode 2 - Long packets only (this makes interactive use SLOOOOW!) 3 - Long packets only and 2 bits per channel (this will make the modem work on even REALLY bad lines, but at only 5-6kbaud) 8 - TCD Packets (no idea what they are, and I haven't used this one). 12 - Disable micropackets. This is useful if you keep losing connections; there are some phone switches which barf occasionally when you're set to 0. If so, try 12. The only one which has a really bad effect on throughput is S120=3, and I would only recommend that if you can't get through any other way. Nonetheless, if you need it, this can be a lifesaver. This register appears to be a bit mask, and other combinations are probably possible..... Heh Telebit -- how about a posting of ALL the register settings and what they do.... Some of us would love to get our hands on that info! -- Karl Denninger (karl@ddsw1.MCS.COM, ddsw1!karl) Data: [+1 312 566-8912], Voice: [+1 312 566-8910] Macro Computer Solutions, Inc.
