Yes, you're right, having the shell do the wildcard expansion is superior.
I never said anything else. BUT, given that, the Amiga wildcard *syntax* is
a superset of the UNIX one. If you're going to write a shell for the Amiga,
or do anything else, PLEASE use the Amiga syntax. That way you get the best
of both worlds...
