The console device is basically ANSI, and reasonably similar to a vt100 (though not the same) and I've found it works fairly well to use the modified keymap and the console device (i.e. setmap in startup-sequence, and just use FTERM) and tell the remote end you're a vt100, if it doesn't understand amiga, ansi or sun. (SunOS 4.0 DOES have an Amiga termcap. Works nicely.) It's not a perfect vt100, but it's not too bad, and you don't need one more program.
