Yes you can do that as long as they are the same type drive (same
connector).  You don't need a special cable.  I would suggest putting the
3.5 drive first in the chain.  There is a plate in the back of the drive.
Just remove it and plug in the 5.25 drive.  Make sure that you set this up
in system set up.  I think you want to set them to smart port.

Yes it will appear as s6,d1.

No.  This will not free up the acutal slot.  Although there isn't a card
there it will still need to use the slot for mapping and such.
