UUENCODE and UUDECODE are programs written originally for Unix systems. UUD and UUE are enhanced versions of the above, available to run on the ST or on Unix (BTW, does anyone have the Unix versions available?). UUENCODE and UUDECODE are very basic, and allow only one file at a time, without the ability to chain from one file to another, which UUD and UUE can do, via the 'include' statement. UUD/UUE also have some very elementary error checking. The reason a file is split is because some mail systems have a 64K limit per posting. To decode split files using UUDECODE you have to edit each piece, removing any header information in all but the first file in the series. When done, the first file will have a 'begin', and the last file will have an 'end'. CAT all these files together. UUDECODE the result. Send me some mail if you have any more trouble. --Billy Harvey wxh@a.lanl.gov
