my on-board-modem has trouble (the well known documented trouble)
talking to two of the three systems i communicate with regularly.
i am going to get an exterior modem to connect to the rs232 port.
are there any hidden problems about this setup which i should be aware
of (such as, what can the drivers available be setup for?)

i am assuming that i can take any hayes compatable and use it with the
hayes driver. is this correct? are there any good cheap modems which
work well?
