  I purchased the IBM PC Convertible last summer and I really like it.
Sure it's slow (4.77) , but as you said my pockets aren't exactly over-
flowing either. 
  I think IBM makes three screens for it. The hard to read, but 
manageable one,  one that is slightly better, and a backlit one. 
  As far as I know you can only purchase the External Monitor 
attachment, extra memory ( I got 640K ) , and the Parallel/Serial 
adaptor from IBM. But you better hurry, because they are coming out 
with their new Super Duper laptop and the old one will be put on the 
shelf. This will mark down the price though, because that is how I got 
mine, but hurry as I said.
  Hope you enjoy it ( I like to annoy my instructors with the keyboard 
clicking during their more tedious lectures ) and if you discover 
anything interesting or find some utilities ( maybe a way to tell how 
much power is left in the battery (yeah sure)) please let me know.
