I'm not sure of this being the right subject group but its all I regualarily check. Question: I am trying to write a small program in which the output file from the program can be directly read in by PC-File: dB. The format of the Database files is dBase III format. I cannot find any mention in the docs for Pc-file as to what the structure of a dBase record file is. I have, by hacking, deduced most of the structure of the file but I have no idea what Byte 1, Byte 9-10, Byte 11-12 (these last two groups are probably words.) represents. They are not the file size or date or, as far as I can tell, the structure. Does anybody out there know what these bytes represent in a dBase III format file? Are they some sort or CRC or Checksum error detection bytes? I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Jeffrey P. Bakke NU113738@NDSUVM1.BITNET #! rnews
