I have a friend who owns one of the Centronix laser printers. They have
recently been reasonably widely available in the UK, I believe that
the company which bought Centronix has decided to sell the printer.

The print looks nice (OK, this is objective, it looks sharp), and I
don't think he has had any cause for concern. I know that he has had a 
problem getting hold of differing fonts for it....the standard fonts are
not the same as the ones in the LJ(?)
