Norton's TS won't do any good.  What you need is the NU main program from
the Norton Utilities Advanced Edition.  You have to start it in maintenance
mode with the /M switch.  You can then examine the disk, sector by sector,
for the text data you want, and save it to a file on another disk.  I've
used it in the situation you describe, with good success.  Good luck!
