I have heard rumors of Hard Cards preferring slot 1 due to subtle timing problems with the DMA. Try removing your smart clock and putting the card in slot 1. You may be able to install the smart clock on the hard card itself. Some of these cards have a pin compatible rom suitable for this purpose. Good luck and keep your fingers crossed.
