We have numerous HP terminals here, and all will respond to ESC*s^ with a
5-character model number followed by whatever is supposed to be sent by the
RETURN key.  "ESC" is the ASCII escape character \033, and the '*', 's', and
'^' need to follow without intervening spaces.  Some of the older terminals
like to see a device-control-1 (control-Q) at the end of the escape string.
