The computer has a dual mode display which is capable of looking like either a monochrome display or a CGA display. In addition to the normal monochrome and CGA display modes the display also supports a 640x400 graphics mode which is not a standard CGA mode. After some poking around I found the MODESWITCH ioctl and hoped that setting the mode to 64 or 74 would do the trick. It did not, I assume that the device driver includes code which only allows certain modes to be activated. I would guess that if we had access to the source code for the CGA driver or a similar driver that the changes necessary for access to this additional functionality would be easily implemented. Before we write a driver from scratch I wanted to see if anyone has already written this device driver (or a similar one). If you have I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!
