I've added the line /usr/bin/X11/xdm& to /etc/rc. However, I still get a login: prompt and xdm does not start up. I've tried commenting out the entry for the console in /etc/inittab, but this makes no difference. If I delete the entry for the console though, there is no login prompt, but xdm still does not come up. There are no entries in /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-errors. If I login at the prompt as root and then manually start xdm, everything is hunnky dory. Does anyone know how to get this to work on startup?
