Hello,
  Has anyone tried compiling the full X distribution with both gcc (using
-O) and sun's cc (using -O4 under SunOS 4.0) and done a speed comparison?
I did this a month or two ago with gcc 1.31 and cc (SunOS 4.0) and came up
the gcc version being just a little bit faster in starting up, but I don't
know of any benchmarks that I could run to do time comparisons. (both have
the Purdue 2.1 speedups installed)
