(which is better) Message-ID: <449@sphere.mast.ohio-state.edu> Date: 27 Feb 89 03:17:34 GMT Reply-To: alden@sphere.mast.ohio-state.edu (Dave Alden) Organization: Dept of Mathematics, The Ohio State Unversity Lines: 14 Hello, Has anyone tried compiling the full X distribution with both gcc (using -O) and sun's cc (using -O4 under SunOS 4.0) and done a speed comparison? I did this a month or two ago with gcc 1.31 and cc (SunOS 4.0) and came up the gcc version being just a little bit faster in starting up, but I don't know of any benchmarks that I could run to do time comparisons. (both have the Purdue 2.1 speedups installed) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Alden, System Programmer MaBellNet: (614) 292-4962 Department of Mathematics Internet: alden@sphere.mast.ohio-state.edu The Ohio State University UUCP: ...!{att,pyramid,killer}!osu-cis! 231 W 18th Avenue sphere.mast.ohio-state.edu!alden Columbus, OH USA 43210 BITNET: alden@ohstpy
