The last time I placed something there with a standard name (.e.g, the `man' that came across comp.sources.unix) without exactly the same semantics, trouble arose. might I suggest a separate directory: /usr/local/bin/gnu/ then users can choose their search path order ... not to discourage the placement of GNU programs in /usr/local/bin/ where that makes sense for you and your users. enjoy -len
