If you run the manual source through tex, you have to do it twice to get the references in. A couple undefined references remained in that version, but that is not as bad as missing references altogether. texindex should be in your emacs/man directory. The index is provided as a .dvi file (on a.cs.uiuc.edu in pub/gnuemacs/elisp) but is safe to use only if you use the elisp.dvi file also. dan
