Balderdash. vi might be hard for some people to learn (though god knows why... it's the only editor I know of for UNIX with a consistant syntax), but it's got features I can't do without. I haven't found another editor, on any machine, that does a decent job of supporting regular expressions for search and replace... something I use continually. You like analogies? How about this one. You can use $(your-favorite-editor) all you want, and it might work just fine for you. Fine; that's your business.
