Try #(x/)foo to match foo, x/foo, x/x/foo, x/x/x/foo, x/x/x/x/foo, etc. in unix. Oh, you mean that about 1/2 of the commands that take wildcards will fail on my examples? Thats a different problem--the code should be written once in a library, not every time by different programs. Michael p.s.
