The concensus was I had been victimized by a mail handler that stripped off trailing blanks. There were as many suggestions for fixing it as there were replies. In general - pad out the short lines with blanks. Some of you reported success with this approach, but I have not yet conquored it. I tried several variations of this, most of which UUDECODE did not like. Most resulted in the "short file" message and no modification of the file. I finally got a version it did not complain about, but it did not decode it either. OK, I give up!! Does some one have a clean copy of the UUENCODEd version they can mail me or point me to a copy (encoded, and/or zoo'd or in the clear) that I can access via FTP? Probably if I were more familiar with what UUDECODE expects I might be able to resolve the problem with the original copy, but I do not have the luxury of enough time to find out via experimentation. Thanks again for the fine responses past and future. Regards, Jerry Whitman
