I *had* my old unidisk with my system at first. When I used GS/OS, it would check the drive every half second or so. I guess that the Unidisk cannot tell if there is a disk inserted, so the OS just keeps checking. After several hours of listening to the drive go on and off, you get a powerful urge to, well, disconnect the drive, at least. Counld not apple just put an IMW on the //e controller card, and let the Apple 3.5" drives be used on the //e? Then Apple could drop the Unidisk, and save on production and inventory costs.
