Lines: 12 A MicroEMACS macro for splitting shell archives (shar files) has lately been posted to comp.sources.misc. It has some advantages for users of systems which have different filename conventions than the system the shell archive originated on. The files are put into buffers, to be saved as the user pleases. The macro works on most recent shars that were generated automatically, and is appropriate for 3.9 generations of MicroEMACS. The changes needed for SOME of the shars it doesn't unpack are fairly obvious (but specialized for each case). I understand that the release of MicroEMACS 3.10, which will remove the need for some of the peculiarities of the macro, is imminent. Steve J.
