Um, yes, they did, and people were very pleased with how similar it was to the version of vi running under the UNIX(R) operating system. A while back, AT&T brought CSS to court, not for violating "look and feel", but for using AT&T source code for their PC/SPELL and PC/TOOLS products without licensing that code. AT&T and CSS settled out of court (the arrangement was never made public, and I never heard what it entailed). Shortly thereafter, CSS ceased operations. Their MKS Toolkit (awk, ksh, vi, and more than a hundred other reimplementations of UNIX(R) system tools) is $199. MKS VI alone is $149.
