On the PC side, no such specification is needed - it kind of assumes that everything will come down binary. I have used MS-Kermit Versions 2.8 and 2.9 and have had no problems, although I generally don't use server mode. I think, though, that I have used server mode once or twice, and I don't recall any problems. The UNIX Kermit I use is on on a VAX, but running Berkeley 4.2 or 4.3 BSD, so I would think the SUN should be the same. Anything else that might be weird with your setup?
