I seem to recall a problem like this when I upgraded from 2.0 to 3.0. I reported the problem to SUN and they basically told me "fixed in the next release", or to be more precise "un-broken in the next release". The reason that I say "un-broken" is that everything worked fine under 2.0 and as a stop-gap solution your can retrieve the rcp/rsh binaries from a 2.0 distribution. The person I was dealing with at SUN was almost in shock (or was that almost in stitches) when I told him I had gotten everything working by reloading the 2.0 programs on top of the 3.0 system (we wanted to upgrade to 3.0 for some of the other features). If you want more info on exactly what problems we encountered and how we fixed them, send mail to me at the "work" address listed below and I will attempt to dig up the files. -- David H.
