Yes, I know it's possible because a friend of mine is doing it. He's running TCP/IP over a 56 kbps leased line. The line is driven by a "CSU/DSU" about which I know little, other than it's the digital line equivalent of a modem. He uses a "Frontier Technologies" card in the RT, (apparently a fast HDLC line driver) which is connected to the CSU/DSU via RS-232. I believe AIX version 2.2.1 is required to run all this.
