Recently after adding a number of new users to the system, I started to encounter some unusual errors when trying to mount additional volumes onto client Macs. The error read "Can't mount - out of Finder Memory". After seeing this error in a number of different circomstances - I discovered that the out of Finder Memory was really occuring on the server due to the fact that too many files were already open. The Finder default is 40 open files. Is there an easy way to change this default. If the default is changed does it affect other applications I may want to run on the server.??? -- G.
