The way to fix this is to use Fedit to change the "number of open files" in
the Mac's boot blocks. This number is multiplied by four before being used,
so changing it from 10 ($0A) to 16 ($10) will give you another 24 files
you can open simultaneously. The memory consumed by this is insignificant.
