Just a note: Everex was at the recent Uniforum in San Francisco, and the Enix they displayed there was X11 R2, not R3. The salescreature said they might have R3 in a few months. On a 16 Mhz 386, Everex's current X-windows product is too slow to be usable. I understand release 2 had some speed problems. Be very careful when buying X-windows for the PC. I made it a point to find out exactly what version of X a given vendor was selling at Uniforum, and most were release 2 or earlier. (Bell Tech was selling X10.4!) Even if a vendor has announced release 3, find out if they're actually selling it, and find out what hardware/software combination you need (including VGA adaptor *and* Ethernet adaptor) to make it work. Also remember, there's a lot of "extended" VGAs out there, and they all seem to be extended in different directions. If a version of X supports extended VGA, you need to know which one.
