The rotation period has been extended so that now every third IJCAI (every sixth year) will be held in North America. IJCAI '95 will be held in North America. The IJCAI Board of Trustees decided to do this for several reasons. Primarily, we wanted to acknowledge the fact that the world of AI is now more international that it was in its early days. Requiring the premier international conference for the field to be in North America every second time was no longer appropriate and reflected, perhaps, a certain North American chauvinism on our part which we decided to offset. -- Alan Mackworth mack@vision.cs.ubc.ca
