There supposedly exists a discounted rate (of $190+$80?) for Ingres for use in "academic teaching and research only". However, the Belgian distributer of Ingres was not aware of this offer, and wants to charge the University 70.000 Belgian francs, which is about $1840, for PC Ingres. Needless to say this is a bit much, especially compared to other database products like Oracle that are available for much less for Universities. Can anyone e-mail me (or post) what the requirements are to get this University-discount for Ingres? Does this only apply to US-Universities? Could I get it (in the US) and bring it to Belgium? Any info greatly appreciated. Paul. -- ------------------------------------------------------ |debra@research.att.com | uunet!research!debra | ------------------------------------------------------
