Message-ID: <1989Mar19.232940.9144@radio.astro.utoronto.ca> Summary: no * , $ Reply-To: brian@radio.astro.utoronto.ca (Brian Glendenning) Organization: Radio Astronomy, University of Toronto Date: Sun, 19-Mar-89 23:29:40 EST I have recently tried playing around with monkey mode under gnuemacs. I do like it better than I like dired. I would like it even better, however, if it did what its documentation says it does, i.e. put '*' before executables (and ',' before character devices, and '$' before block devices, although that's not so important). It does put '/' before directories and '@' before symlinks, as it should. Is this a local problem? We're running 18.52 under SunOS 3.4, although the behaviour seems to be similar on other machines running slightly earlier (18.49) versions of emacs, and machines running later (4.0+) versions of SunOS. Please respond via email, and I will post the solution to the group if it's not some silly local problem (and will still post if it appears others might possibly be making the same mistake). Thanks. -- Brian Glendenning - Radio astronomy, University of Toronto brian@radio.astro.utoronto.ca uunet!utai!radio!brian glendenn@utorphys.bitnet
