Sorry, but both GNU and Prime Emacs, and probably most other flavours (but not MicroGNU, last I checked) have C-t to transpose-chars and M-t to transpose-words. And, has been pointed out before, you can have vi inside of GNU Emacs and still have the rest of the Emacs environment available to you. I've been watching this discussion for a couple of days now without jumping in with support for my favourite editor. That's mostly because I think it is important for someone to be happy with an editor and not everyone likes the same things.
