If you are looking to upgrade over the long term, you can start by simply upgrading your 500 to a 2000. The 2500 series is simply a 2000 mother- board with extra cards added. Then you may add a hard-card of your own choosing (like the GVP hardcards - fast!), and add the 2620 and AMIX as they become available. I have had an opportunity to play on a 2500 for a few minutes, and its quite the speed demon (at least to me it is.) Hope this helps you in your quest.
