Message-ID: <8903080649.aa02725@SMOKE.BRL.MIL> Date: 7 Mar 89 23:07:00 GMT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Organization: The Internet Lines: 19 I've been slogging along on my ][+ for about 9 years now. Over the years a number of annoying little hardware errors have crept in (vertical lines caused by flaky behavior of the character generator rom, a certain bit being ORed with characters when they are scrolled which occurs when the machine heats up, flaky memory, etc). Now it has taken to powering down at random intervals. This is a great frustration when programming or word processing. But I have so much software & knowledge for the Apple that I want to continue using one. ][e or not ][e, that is the question. I sure would like a new ][e, with 80-columns, 128K memory, etc. But should I settle for a ][e, or spring for the ][gs? I don't intend to do any more significant programming until I can get a personal computer with 1M RAM, C, and UNIX, so I don't need a developer's system. Is the ][gs worth the price difference? (I can get a ][gs or replace my 79 Ford, but not both. I use the ][+ more than the Ford.) Should I look into the Laser 128? And what's a ][c+? Phil Goetz PGOETZ@LOYVAX.bitnet
