Long) Distribution: na Organization: Air Force Institute of Technology; WPAFB, OH Lines: 21 I am about to build a home-brew hard drive. I have a CDC Wren-I drive that I am putting in a separate eclosure originally intended for two full-height drives. Then enclosure has its own power supply and fan. I plan on using the ICD ost adaptor and an Adaptec 4000 or 4000A controller. My question is this: what size and type of connector ribbon cables will I need to cable in the host-adaptor, controller and hard-drive? Could someone who has built a home-brew system please let me know. My money is tight and I am putting this thing together one step at a time. I'd like to pick up the ribbon cables while I am waiting on the bucks to order the adapter and controller cards. I assume most of the connectors in this area are standardized. I know the ICD will come with the DMA-host-adaptor cable and I figure I'll have to wing the power supply to circuit board and disk drive connections since I'm sure this suplus drive enclosure (which was originally intended for a Burroghs CPM system) won't have the common type of power cables with it. So I'd like to know the specs for the ICD-Adaptec and the Adaptec-Disk cables. Thanks in advance. I know I will get some help because all of the postings I've made to this net always get several helpful responses!! Jeff Long PS, any reccomendations on alternate host adaptors and sources/prices for any of the boards I will need will also be most appreciated!!
