Last week, I had posted an article that I was having a problem unpacking
arc files from simtel20 on my PC. I have solved the problem. Here is
what I was doing:

ftp'ing from a SUN4 to simtel20
using either 'type tenex' or 'quote "type l 8"'
getting the files to the SUN
tar'ing them together
uuencoding them
transferring them to my PC using UUPC

The problem arose from the tar'ing. ON the PC I was untar'ing with
pdtar. Either SUN's tar doesn't put the .arc files into tar archives
properly or pdtar doesn't unpck them properly. I suspect pdtar. In the
past I've had problems creating tar archives on my PC using pdtar to
tar together archives created by pkarc. It would truncate the .arc
files.

Solution: don't tar together .arc files to send to the PC. Instead, 
individually transfer them.
