In a matter of hours since I posted the above I got about 20 replies telling
me to use Quickkeys from CE software.  I will look into getting that.

Some also suggested just using the Command-W option.  I guess that works from
most places, but it doesn't for the Chooser window, which is one of the things
I was interested in.  I wonder why?
