I tried using a program written by Tim Maroney called Backdrop on my
Mac II and it simply started and and shut itself down.  Didn't change
the background canvas at all.

So I conclude that it's broken.  Is there an uptodate version that
works on Mac II's or is there a better INIT (I assume) that will work
to set up arbitrary ScreenMaker or macPaint canvases?
