I even saw a report on Headline News about it.  They interviewed Steven Levy,
author of the infamous column, who said it was just a joke.  Curiously, they
also interviewed a dude at IBM, who said that IBM neither confirms nor denies
reports about machines under development.

So IBM couldn't even deny it!
