Message-ID: <454@harrier.ukc.ac.uk> Date: 17 Mar 89 19:05:04 GMT References: <76@harrier.ukc.ac.uk> Reply-To: mf1@ukc.ac.uk (Michael Fischer) Organization: Social Anthropology (CSAC), University of Kent at Canterbury, UK. Lines: 23 My new Mac II is not finding the internal scsi drive (HD 40). This is the second time this has happened. Only connections are interal hd40, b/w monitor, 1/4 bit video, mouse, kb, 1 meg ram. Worked fine the previous evening, using hypercard v1.02. On booting hear a few `clunks', the light on the drive pulses yellow at about 3-4 hz, and the query icon comes on the screen asking for a disk. Sometimes the scsi drive pulses the light again at this point. Booting from the utilities disk, I run the HD setup program, which also fails to find the drive, although a very short pulse is emited from the drive light, maybe 1/20 second. I have reset the parameter ram [eg COMMAND/SHIFT/OPTION Control Panel], disconnected the power altogether, and unplugged all externals (mouse kb monitor), and drained the capacitors. Still persists. I sent it off to the distributer the first time, they claimed it booted normally on arrival on service report, although my conversation with them suggested they ran HD Setup. Any ideas? Thanks...
