Just having a go at the TIFF specs.
The first two bytes contain "MM" ($4D4D) if the file has been written
by a real CPU, or "II" ($4949) if an Intel chip messed it up. :-)
The difference is in byte order within words and longwords.
   And since most TIFF readers' programmers are just too lazy to put in
the twenty lines of code to allow for the difference...
