Hi,
I'm looking for an application and/or a description 
of how to perform a Torsional Mass Elastic System
Analysis on a Hydroelectric Pumping Assembly.

Here's a description of the problem:

If a motor is trying to spin a pump impeller through
a long shaft, it will twist the shaft.  A pump impeller
having two vanes will give a torsional shock twice 
every revolution.  If the elasticity of the shaft is just 
right, this torsional shock will amplify until it breaks
something.

I have specifications for the pumping assembly, but
no experience solving this type problem.

Any information is appreciated.  I would prefer an 
application that runs on a Macintosh but please
don't limit your advice to this hardware.
