Since the Encore uses COFF format, what you need are the COFF
patches available from Ron Cole which were announced on info-g++
recently.  If you did not see that message, let me know and I
will give you a mail path for Ron Cole.

(Another person who needs G++ COFF support!  Is somebody keeping count?)
