Ok, so there isn't a portable way for GhostScript to restore things
automatically. Could I suggest that a small utility program be included
that will restore the palette? Call it: "reset" or something?
Wrap it in a batch file?

I happen to have Norton Utilities and can reset things using one of the
tools, but someone else might not be so fortunate.

Then later, if a portable way is developed, "reset" could disappear.
