Ok, here we have the point that I have been trying to make all along. The university knew that we were serious. They had been warned that we intended to strike over these issues. They refused to bargain for 7 months. They presented us with an insulting 'final offer' and expected us to run away with our tails between our legs. It was the complete irresponsibility on the part of the administration that caused the strike. If they had EVER attempted to bargain in good faith, none of it would ever had happened. There is no way that you can look at this strike and legitimately say that CUEW was malicious. It is completely ludicrous. We care so much about quality education that we are willing to put it all on the line, the picket line, to ensure that some semblance of quality is maintained. You were indeed being held ransom, but it was by the administration. It was their deliberate negligence which caused the strike.
