They've made some expansions to the standard for comments and long filenames, but ARC doesn't use them yet. ARCE 4.0c will also handle the subdirectory headers. So I'm writing my VAZ program (view ARC/ZOO/DWC/ZIP, DBF, GIF, PIF, EXE... contents (rampant featuritis at work!)), and have to contend with 3 separate ways of commenting .ARC's- the SEA method, the Katz method, and the PAK method (which at least usually uses a different extension). ARC now has a 5 option for "version 5 compatibility", too.
