I don't want to throw too much cold water on anyone. I happen to like both, and have written several thousand lines of TPU myself. I just think that we need to keep in mind what environments we are dealing with. Here (Ball St. U.) we have a cluster of 3 11/785's and 1 8650 with far too many users. Waiting for EVE to echo a character can be just as frustrating as waiting for GNUemacs on the 785 running BSD4.3 that I am writing this on. (Though actually I am using JOVE right now.)
